Taiwan Uncensored

Although, besides the Astronesian aborigines, the residents of Taiwan are mainly of Chinese descent, the island, or part of it, has historically been ruled by the Dutch, Spanish, British, and Japanese. Today, Taiwan is a multi-cultural island nation, reflecting the mosaic beauty of the cultures of the various rulers, and peoples residing there as well as those of foreign pioneers who have left significant contributions on the island. In this exhibit, we intend to present a true picture of the island nation to the audience who are interested in further knowing about Taiwan. It consists of different parts showing legacies left by some of the “main players” on the island. We are indebted to Taiwan Democracy Foundation, National Taiwan Museum, National Taiwan Museum of History, Yuan-Liu Press, Nan-Tian Book Company, and Tai-Yuan Arts and Culture Foundation for their Assistance in making this project a possibility.
