Eco Artistry
National Taiwan Craft Research Institute

People in Taiwan have begun to realize the importance of environmental protection in recent years. They have also applied this concept in art creations, making sure the material used for crafts is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Thus, eco arts have become a trend in Taiwan today.

The theme in eco arts is two-folded: to re-use the old material and to make good use of new natural resources. It is emphasized that if material used for art works or crafts can not be recycled and re-used, it is a great waste of natural resources. The concept also calls for the creation of quality products that are practical and eco-friendly.

The products conforming to this concept are the results of combining arts and people’s needs in daily life. It is hoped that the crafts created this way can also take care of all details in every stage while trying to make craft works a true enterprise, making them well-liked by consumers and lessening the burden of our mother earth.

Our exhibit intends to showcase the creations of some young artists in Taiwan who have tried to connect nature with daily life. It is hoped that, through their effort as well as those of others, the industry of Taiwanese crafts can play an important role on the international stage.
