In the Formosa Club Show this year, three popular entertainers from Taiwan, Hsiu-Ching Chang, Fu-chu Liu and Kung kiang, will showcase their talents and make those from Taiwan reminisce about their life in their homeland.

Miss Hsiu Ching Chang

Since winning a TV talent show in Taiwan while a young girl, Hsiu-Ching has seen her career take off, from releasing her solo LP’s and CD’s to hosting television shows. Her special renditions of popular songs are always filled with her genuine emotions and touch people’s hearts. Songs that have made her especially popular include “Railway Station” and “Homesickness”. Her appearance at the 2008 TaiwanFest will surely warm music lovers’ hearts in Vancouver.

Mr. Fu-chu Liu

Fu-chu has enjoyed great fame in singing Taiwanese folksongs in Taiwan for forty years. His “Anton Going Grocery Shopping” became a best seller almost overnight. Later, he repeatedly won awards in singing and composition, thus, making him one of the most popular singers on the island. Besides his many solo concerts, he has also visited numerous countries sharing his talents with the local people and Taiwanese there.

In his first visit to Vancouver, Fu-chu will bring with him many folksongs that will surely trigger and cure the homesickness of those from Taiwan.

Mr. Kung Kiang

Called “father of the one-man orchestra in a TV variety show”, Kung Kiang is not only the music director but also “the hand rocking the cradle” of the show. He is a famed teacher in the keyboard, and also “the man behind the show host”, using his musical talents and his sense of humour to help make numerous variety shows popular and successful. Three of the shows of which he is the music director have been finalists in Gold Bell Award competitions in Taiwan.

It’s a great opportunity for the Vancouverites to see Kung Kiang in person at the 2008 TaiwanFest.
